Nearly twice the size of the Constitution class of earlier days at 526 meters long this class made use of many of the warp technology advances that were made during Starfleet's unsuccessful Transwarp Development Program. It had two shuttlebays, more than its predecessors, one at the aft of the engineering hull and the other on the saucers section upper side behind and below the bridge module. Advancements in weaponry system also increased the expected life of this class. Phaser strips replaced the staple point phaser emitters and because of there verticality were for the first time added to other sections, namely the warp pylons. Additional transporter emitters were added as well as sensor pallets. With additional Reaction Control System (RCS) this class was made more maneuverable and could outperform equivalent sized Romulans vessels. Sadly the Ambassador class was largely phased out by the 2370's.
