New life was giving to the concept when a Dominion conflict seemed possible. Starfleet quickly revamped the design and had construction begin. Many of these ships were produced and did see action during the war, however Starfleet has since terminated the construction of any additional ships. Due to the quick planning of this class many problems have arose. Starfleet has no plans to refit the existing vessels and plans to retire all vessels of this class by 2380.
